TITANIC PODCAST SCRIPT

What is up folks!
My name is Lance and welcome to my podcast!
Today, with the help of the general public, the deep dark web, and my deep dark brain- I will be reviewing one of the most iconic films of all time… the one, the only…
TITANIC!

*My Heart Will Go On, Instrumental* - followed by a loud crash.

Now for those of you who have been living under a rock for the past years...
James Cameron’s Titanic revolves around the story of two people from opposing social classes stuck on a big-ass ship -crashing into a big-ass rock.
Or iceberg… whatever you want to call it, either way, one of them dies.

*sound clip of the noise Old Rose makes*

Like I said, today I’ll be reviewing the film for you lot alongside the help of some people from the general public who wanted to shed some light on their opinions about the film and with it, hopefully I too can shed some light on a few behind the scenes info about the production of the film that you, the listeners- my audience- might not have known before.

So yeah, sit back, relax, put your lifejacket on- and brace for impact!

*sound bite from the movie, ship's horn*

Alright now I’m sure we can all agree that the real events involving RMS Titanic was a real tragedy- something that has definitely left a big mark on our history and something that the  director of the Titanic, James Cameron was able to vividly depict on screen.

In fact, he was so adamant at re-creating the sinking of the ship perfectly that in editing he:

1.) Made sure that the time between the scene depicting the moment of the iceberg warning and the ship's collision, lasted exactly 37 seconds.
AND...

2.) That the actual sinking of the ship would last for 2 hours   and 40 minutes.

All of these time frames were the same exact durations in the real event! So, James Cameron- if you ever stumble upon this review in an alternate universe in which I’m lucky enough to have my work noticed by you… I would just like to say,

First of all.. HI

Second of all...well done on creating a respectful adaptation.

And...third of all?...bruhh...what was with that love story?

I mean come on, If you’re going to make a 200 million dollar movie about a catastrophic event- why in hell would you shift the main focus of the movie from the reasonings of the sinking into a romantic- lovey-dovey- kissy kissy- have-sex-in-a-car - hours before you die from getting chilly chilly-- story.

YOU DIDN’T EVEN LET THEM RIDE OFF INTO THE SUNSET YOU SICK SON OF A B-
*My Heart Will Go On, Theme Song*

Okay, so yes, if the whole sinking of the titanic wasn’t involved, I do have to admit that the whole falling head over heels for you- even though you’re in a different social class as me cliche’ was cute to watch- at the start- and YES the on-screen chemistry between Kate Winslett and Leonardo DiCaprio was indeed, mesmerising.

But… nevertheless- even if you proved to me that Jack and Rose’s tragic love story was beneficial for making a successful movie-

I STILL think that Jack Dawson could’ve and SHOULD’VE been allowed to balance on that door WITH ROSE-

I mean, could you imagine how pathetic Jack must’ve felt knowing that he survived the literal sinking of RMS Titanic but somehow only died because he ‘supposedly’ couldn’t fit and balance on top of a fricking door?!

In fact if they really wanted to have an impactful death in the ending (because you know..1,503 people wasn’t enough)
they could’ve had Jack and Rose balance on top of that door (awaiting for their rescue) but have them end up dying together a la’ Romeo and Juliet or like in The Notebook. To me, that would’ve been more tragic- and would’ve emphasised how secluded they were from everyone else around them and how even in death they were still there for each other.

*add awww soundbite*

At the end of the day If the old couple in the actual movie itself could get that death, why couldn’t Jack and Rose?

But anyways, back to the topic, I genuinely think that they could’ve thought of a better - less pathetic death for Jack- and to prove that his death WAS pathetic… here’s a snippet from a MythBuster episode in which they test and ‘debunk’ the balancing on the door scene.

*Insert Mythbusters sound clip*

So, there you have it folks. The proof that Jack could’ve survived. And don’t even deny it, you saw how pathetic that death was.

*Introduction to the Vox Pop*

Short sting-

*Vox Pop 1* about Jack’s death

Okay, now that you’ve heard what I said and what everyone else has said about that matter, it’s time to move onto another topic.

I also asked some people about what they liked and disliked about the movie as well as other aspects that could’ve been improved about it.

*Vox Pop 2* about what people liked and disliked about the movie, what could be improved*

Add own input on what people said about the movie in that vox pop- short bits, agree with most of them.

Alright, so now that we’ve heard the opinions from people who watched the movie, it’s time to take a full turn and introduce you lot to Alex Bevan...who, unlike 95% of the world’s population- still hasn’t Titanic.

Here’s the short interview coming at you right now…

*short sting*

*Interview with Emily and Leanne*

*soundbite of alarm going off*
*violin from the movie in the background*

Okay unfortunately we’ve come to the end of the podcast and that means it’s time to round up my point, rate the movie out of 5 stars and say my last goodbyes to you- my listeners.

*sound bite* reveal sound.

Overall I’d say that James Cameron, Kate Winslet, Leonardo Dicaprio and the rest of the cat and crew did an amazing job at creating a timeless movie that paid a respectful nod to the past.
It’s not a perfect movie- but nor is it ‘shite’- there’s some improvements that could’ve been made to make the film even better but at the end of the day- at least Titanic’s mistakes weren’t as bad as the mistakes made throughout the whole of Titanic 2…

And yes, you heard that right...There’s a B movie out there in the dark depths of the internet that tried (AND FAILED) to replicate the success of the Titanic.

But… that’s another story to be told in another podcast.

For now, I give James Cameron’s Titanic a solid 4.5 stars out of 5!

That’s it!
Thanks for listening and have a jolly- good- day!

*My heart will go on- to fade*
